About the Felice Lesser Dance Theater
The Felice Lesser Dance Theater (FLDT) creates and performs new dance works. In its thirty-six year history, the company has produced fifty dance works, two full-length plays about dance and dancers (FUNDING THE ARTS and RUNNING BACKWARDS ON THE TREADMILL, both of which featured projected computer animation and choreography), video/dance works (including the "live documentary" I AM A DANCER, and NEW YORK, NY), a number of original television broadcasts, and many contemporary music and contemporary art collaborations. FLDT is committed to education as well as performance, and has an extensive array of lecture-demonstrations, classes, residencies and workshops to develop audiences and bring the general public and students into the creative process. The company feels strongly that dance should be available and accessible to all, and provides outreach and free ticket programs to special and underserved populations. The Felice Lesser Dance Theater is a member of Dance/USA and the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP).
